With just two years to go to the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, Gangwon Province in Korea is gearing up by hosting an 'Olympic Festival' event in Gangneung city to celebrate and wish success for the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics in Korea.
The 'Olympic Festival' event will be held in and around Dano Park in Gangneung city from 4-6 February and will include special performances by K-pop singers as well as cultural and arts performances. There will be a 'World DJ dance festival' as well as cultural performances by East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Forum members.
At the same time several test events to ensure the readiness of the 2018 Winter Olympics will take place including the Jeongseon Alpine Ski World Cup (6-7 Feb), the Pyeongchang Bokwang Snowboard World Cup (19-21/25-27 Feb) as well as the Freestyle Ski World Cup (18-20/26-28 Feb), 2016.
Other winter festivals taking place during Feburary are the PyeongChang Winter Music Festival (25-28 Feb), Daegwallyeong Snow Festival (15 Jan-10 Feb), Jeongseon Icicle Festival (15-24 Jan) allowing opportunities for visitors to enjoy Korea's winter culture.
