France remains to be the main partner of the Festival Hue 2016 that is to transpire in the ancient royal city of Hue, the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, from April 29-May 4 next year.
Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Dung told at a recent working session with a delegation from France’s Poitou- Charentes region led by Yves Debien, Deputy President of the Regional Council.
The L’homme Debout art troupe will stage a play named Venus to the Festival Hue 2016 with the participation of both French and Vietnamese artists,Yves Debien said.
At the working session, both sides also discussed how to step up bilateral economic and investment cooperation.
Earlier, the Poitou-Charentes Regional Council funded a US$510,000 project on developing eco-tourism in the locality.
The project is underway in Hue city and mountainous Nam Dong district aiming to help the the local tourism sector develop sustainably, while ensuring environmental protection and promoting local cultural heritage, particularly the Hue ancient imperial relic site recognised by UNESCO as World Cultural Heritage.
The Poitou-Charentes region also financed US$23,000 to build a Guol House, a communal house of the Co Tu ethnic minority people, in Thuong Nhat commune, Nam Dong district, which serves as accommodations for tourists.
