Malaysia Airlines Finds Meaning in Chinese New Year Festivity with Short Film “Blessings

The Chinese New Year celebration brings about many blessings and joy through reunions with family, friends and loved ones.

To celebrate this festivity, Malaysia Airlines produced another short film entitled, “Blessings”. This video is part of the airline’s Social Media campaign, and follows the “Terbang” video which was posted during the Merdeka celebration.

For Malaysia Airlines, the past year has been toughest in its history of its existence since 1972. “Blessings” is about appreciating the simple things and the many blessings that life has to offer.

Accompanying the short film is a soulful tune written by the newly-discovered Malaysian singer/ songwriter Lilly called “Sky”. The beautiful tune is a tribute to Malaysia Airlines’ fallen heroes and heroines of both MH370 and MH17 and Malaysia Airlines families who have contributed their efforts to serve the nation and in keeping the Malaysia Airlines brand flying high.

Every scene and dialogue was crafted with a multi-layered message and features Malaysia’s diverse cultures and traditions. The essence of this video aims to touch the hearts of fellow Malaysians irrespective of race. It aims to inspire viewers to find reconciliation in the strength and comfort in the love of a family despite challenges and adversity.

Each of the characters in the film has their own personal stories. These stories are created based on facts and family histories which are cohesive with the previous short film, TERBANG.

A very touching scene shows the relationship between a mother, Mary Anne who was a former cabin crew of the airline, and her son, going through the journey of life.
