FITUR 2015, in line with emerging tourism markets

The trade show will showcase the novelties of businesses, institutions and bodies from around the world from 28 January to 1 February 2015

The International Tourism Trade Show organised by IFEMA will hold its 35th staging in Madrid from 28 January to 1 February 2015 with a strong international presence. The event, an emblematic date in the touris industry’s calendar, will again host the largest tourism business and promotion forum worldwide, with the presentation of numerous projects aimed at energising the sector’s operation.

The trade show will drive forward the best of all exhibition scenarios, offering its participants a unique space for the promotion and commercialisation of its latest tourism products as well as an area aimed at boosting the competitiveness of the tourism industry thanks to a comprehensive programme of conferences, experts panels, workshops and activities.

In this regard, FITUR KNOW HOW & EXPORT stands out as one the most innovative proposals. Promoted by FITUR, ICEX and SEGITTUR, this specialised section will allow tourism companies to showcase their most innovative solutions in the field of comprehensive tourism management and international outreach. Also noteworthy will be FITURTECH, which will reaffirm its commitment to the next generation of tourism in order to respond to travellers’ demands and to display their most cutting-edge proposals in the technological sphere as well as in the field of tourism applications, and the monographic section FITURGREEN, which will focus on sustainability policies, especially energy savings and efficiency in hotel and tourism management. The two latter sessions are organised by the Instituto Tecnológico Hotelero, ITH, in collaboration with FITUR and the UNWTO.
In addition, this year, FITUR will again stage INVESTOUR Africa, the investment and business forum – organised jointly with Casa África and the UNWTO – and which aims to promote sustainable tourism in Africa, offering a platform to facilitate dialogue on new business and cooperation opportunities between representatives of African tourism and potential Spanish investors/partners.

Following on in this line, the trade show will also provide a differentiated exhibition space for FITUR LGBT, which will enable professionals to locate the specific tourism supply and demand of the GAY-LGBT segment. The space, which is organised with the collaboration of Diversity Consulting.es, will also feature, among other proposals, debates, forums, talks, round tables and conferences.

New FITUR Shopping and FITUR Health Sections

Together with these proposals, and to put the spotlight on an unexplored emerging market, at its 35th staging the trade show will launch the FITUR SHOPPING section with the support of Madrid Shopping Tour, one of the first companies in Europe to specialise in shopping tourism. It will thus contribute to the consolidation of this new sector, making special emphasis on the design, creativity and unique experience that shopping in Spain offers in comparison with other destinations.

Another novelty is FITUR HEALTH, an initiative which has emerged thanks to the participation of the Spaincares cluster and which will centre its activity on boosting health tourism, a growing segment within the national tourism scene. To this end it will have its own area to host the proposals of participating companies and a forum for analysis and debate, as well as a space for B2B meetings and appointments.

The 35th staging of FITUR will open its doors to professionals from 28 January to 1 February 2015 and during the weekend – 31 January to 1 February – it will exhibit its novelties and the “FITUR Getaways” to the wider public.
