Fifty "London Taxis" on Shanghai City Streets

Fifty cars of the same model used by the London Taxi Company began to roam the streets of Shanghai recently.

People need to make a booking one day earlier, said a spokesperson for Shanghai Qiangsheng Taxi Company.

The Shanghai Transport Commission is working on a new policy to let disabled people to enjoy a discount when riding a "London taxi" which charges 19 yuan for the initial 3 kilometers and 2.6 yuan for each kilometer afterwards -- 0.2 yuan more than others.

The new cars feature convenience devices for the disabled, free Wi-Fi service and air cleaner. Passengers can pay fares with a public transport card or the Alipay mobile application.
