The Kulata Academy Café has opened at Ayers Rock Resort staffed by trainees of the National Indigenous Training Academy. Previously, the Red Rock Deli, located in Town Square, the café now offers students the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of hospitality management.
Under the guidance of supervisory trainers, some of who are also graduates from the Program, the Kulata Academy Café, offers a comprehensive food and beverage training facility and empowers trainees within a safe learning environment.
The National Indigenous Training Academy, have already celebrated two successful rounds of graduates since it was established in 2011. A total of 38 trainees have graduated with 25 in full-time employment at the Resort. The remaining graduates choosing to use their new skills and qualifications to pursue other employment opportunities, usually closer to home.
Echoing in the footsteps of Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Apprentice Program, trainees serve guests a wide range of freshly prepared sandwiches along with salads and breakfast classics like fresh yoghurt, smoothies and fruit options. An array of cakes and pastries from the Resort bakery are complemented by Grinders espresso coffee and a selection of T2 tea.

Whilst running the Café allows trainees to gain experience in a whole range of hospitality skills, guests can interact with our trainees in a meaningful way," says Voyages Managing Director Koos Klein.
