Lend Lease has today unveiled the design of the hotel planned to be built as part of the Darling Harbour Live project, which will deliver Sydney a world-class events and entertainment precinct.
TTF Chief Executive Ken Morrison said the hotel is integral to the new precinct.
“This hotel, with its striking design, will provide the ultimate in convenience for people attending events at the new International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney,” Mr Morrison said.
“As well as accommodation, dining and entertainment options, the hotel will provide events facilities to complement those at the ICC.
“It will be a boon to the tourism industry, with the addition of up to 650 new rooms to Sydney’s accommodation stocks to help New South Wales achieve its goal of doubling overnight visitor expenditure by 2020.
“Having a hotel as part of the Darling Harbour Live project will help to activate the precinct, and give visitors and locals new entertainment and dining choices.
“It is a key part of the revitalisation of Darling Harbour to bring it into the 21st century and provide Sydney with the world class events and entertainment facility it deserves.
“The accommodation will boost activity for other businesses as well, as tourists eat out, go shopping, visit attractions and see the sights of Sydney.
“As the first major quality hotel in Sydney in over a decade, this will be a significant addition to our tourism offering and will help to generate activity and expenditure in the visitor economy.
“The entire Darling Harbour development project will inject an estimated $5 billion into the New South Wales economy, providing 3700 jobs during construction and 4000 ongoing jobs.”
