Let Kids' Imagination Run Wild at Brisbane's Medieval History and Modern Asian Art Exclusives

School's out but the class of life continues in Brisbane this summer when QAGOMA and Queensland Museum stage APT8 Kids and Medieval Power: Symbols & Splendour - two international and exclusive blockbuster exhibitions.

From the interactive displays of modern art of the Asia Pacific region to an historic introduction to medieval Europe - curated exclusively from the British Museum - there's enough creative play to keep everyone from their screens these holidays. Best yet, a full day of fun, taking in both exhibits, starts from just $12 for children.

APT8 Kids, QAGOMA

Held as part of The 8th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art', APT8 Kids features interactive artworks and hands on multimedia activities created by exhibiting artists especially for children and families. Offering a rich participatory experience and curated to reflect key themes of the exhibition, APT8 Kids provides insights into contemporary art created across Australia, Asia and the Pacific.

The APT8 Kids projects are on display in spaces across Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) and Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) buildings.

Medieval Power: Symbols and Splendour, Queensland Museum

Take the kids back to the majesty of knights and round tables with this exclusive exhibition from the British Museum. Queensland Museum is the first in the world to host the new exhibition and kids can be transported by stories of warriors of years gone by with the exhibition showcasing precious gold, sculptures and jewels that span a period where modern Europe was formed.

Tickets start at $12.00 for kids, $22.00 for adults or $118 for a family of two adults and two children.

Make it a Big Day Out for less than $30 per child*

9am : Arrive at South Bank Ferry by City Cat and head to Merriweather Café for coffee for Mum or Dad, and babycinos or smoothies for the kids.

10am : Time for kids to embrace their inner Picasso at the APT8 Kids exhibition across QAGOMA and QAG. Watch where their imagination takes them!

12pm : When tiny feet have discovered new ways to draw, make and create, GoMA Café Bistro offers relaxed dining with river city views. Take advantage of the $10 kids menu (choice of mini burger or fish and fries) which comes with salad, a bottle of water and spotted cookie.

1pm : With everyone re-charged, pop on over to the Queensland Museum where stories of medieval warriors and artefacts await discovery at Medieval Power: Symbols and Splendour.

3pm : One last treat before jumping back on the ferry. Nitrogenielooks more like a scientist's lab than your average ice-cream shop and serves up flavours like milk toffee crunch and salted caramel popcorn. Order by the cup, cone or try their signature Nitroburger – an ice-cream scoop sandwiched between two macaroons.
