Described by organisers as Australia’s largest working display of arts and crafts, the three-day event brings together exhibitors, artisans, makers and visitors for a celebration of both traditional and contemporary craft. Across Deloraine, visitors can discover handmade works, watch skilled craftspeople demonstrating their techniques and experience the atmosphere of one of Tasmania’s best-known craft events.
A Town Transformed by Craft
The Tasmanian Craft Fair spreads across four major venues and three galleries throughout Deloraine, creating an event that encourages visitors to explore the town as they move between exhibitions, demonstrations, stalls and performances.
The program showcases an impressive variety of creative disciplines, including textiles and fashion, woodcraft, glass, sculpture, visual arts and other traditional and contemporary forms of making. More than 80 per cent of exhibitors are Tasmanian, complemented by selected makers from interstate.
Free shuttle buses operate between the principal venues, making it easy for visitors to explore the fair without having to drive between locations.

Rather than simply displaying finished objects, the fair gives visitors opportunities to watch artisans demonstrate their skills and discover the time, patience and knowledge behind handmade creations.
For shoppers, collectors and anyone interested in Australian craftsmanship, the event also provides an opportunity to purchase distinctive handmade works directly from exhibitors.
The combination of demonstrations, exhibitions, food, entertainment and activities for children creates an event suitable for a weekend visit with family and friends.
The Rajah Quilt Comes to Deloraine
A major highlight of the 2026 fair will be a full-size replica of the historic Rajah Quilt.
Created by women aboard the convict ship Rajah during its voyage to Van Diemen's Land in 1841, the original quilt is one of Australia's most significant historic textiles and is held in the National Gallery of Australia's collection.
The licensed replica, created by Tasmanian custodians Anne and Rob Thompson, will allow visitors to see this remarkable story of craftsmanship, resilience and shared creativity close to home.
A $10,000 Award for Excellence
The fair also celebrates outstanding artistic achievement through the Premier’s Arts Award.
Returning in 2026, the award offers a $10,000 prize and recognises excellence in craft arts at a national or international standard. The award adds another dimension to the event, highlighting the extraordinary skill represented by Australia's contemporary craft community.
Discover Deloraine and Northern Tasmania
Beyond the fairgrounds, visitors can explore the town's historic streets, galleries, cafes and surrounding Great Western Tiers landscape. Deloraine's location also makes it an appealing base for discovering other Northern Tasmania attractions.
The 2026 fair runs from 9am to 4pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 9am to 3pm on Sunday. Standard admission tickets provide access to the main ticketed venues, while several other locations offer free entry.
