Museums: Available To Visitors Year-Round

Museum of Glass
Washington is known for many things (wine, beer, sensational outdoor adventure), but did you know it's also home to a thriving art scene? There are hundreds of museums and exhibitions across the state that make it top of the list for those in search of a state-wide art crawl.

The Suquamish Museum, located in Kitsap County, offers breathtaking tribal art while sharing the history and story of the Suquamish Tribe. Visit Chief Sealth’s (Seattle’s) gravesite or The Point Casino, where you can experience tribal art both inside and outside.

In the Tacoma Museum District, six major museums line the city’s downtown core complemented by glass art dotting the streets. Visitors can even stay at Hotel Murano, a glass-art themed boutique hotel honouring native artist Dale Chihuly.

On the Olympic Peninsula, the Makah Cultural and Research Center is home to artifacts from the Ozette Archaeological Site, a Makah village partly buried by a mudslide 300-500 years ago. This museum provides a glimpse of pre-contact Makah life, including early art by the tribe.

In Walla Walla, Foundry Vineyards is expertly merging art and winemaking. Bottles are labelled with works of art intended to commemorate makers from the Walla Walla Foundry and the gallery-like tasting room hosts rotating contemporary art exhibits.
