The Department of Tourism Development and Culture of Apsara National Authority distributed 50 water bottles to 50 tourism agents, public order agencies, staff, and workers of the Banteay Srei Temple for daily drinking water to jointly reduce plastic bottle use and improve the environment in the Angkor site.

Chan Samnang, Manager of Tourism agent, said that the distribution of water bottles is to encourage the officials stationed at Banteay Srei to be role models in water refilling from water purification machines and discontinue the use of plastic bottles.

Chhim Ratana, Head of Tourism agent at Banteay Srei Temple, was happy after receiving the new water bottle. She would like to thank the leadership of the Apsara National Authority and GIZ for providing water bottles for Cambodia’s common purpose without plastic.

On 24 May 2024, Apsara Authority and GIZ organized the inauguration ceremony of the water purification system in front of Banteay Srei Temple to provide the officials, staff, authorities, vendors, and relevant authorities, especially tourists who visit Banteay Srei can refill water for free to help reduce waste and pollution by plastic waste in the Angkor area. *Khmer Times
