During the Loggerhead nesting season (May to October) hundreds of sea turtles lay their eggs on the beaches of Sanibel Island.
New hatchlings can be found along the 18 miles of Gulf beaches from Sanibel Island Lighthouse to the tip of Captiva Island,.
The destination is a prime spot for the loggerhead turtles with residents and visitors alike encouraged toobserve the lights-out policy across the island, as artificial lights can cause the hatchlings to wander toward dangerous roads.
