1) Sculpture at Scenic World, Scenic World Blue Mountains

2) Fruit picking, Bilpin
Your family will feel a million miles away from the city while roaming the seemingly endless rows of fruit trees and picking apples, peaches, nectarines, pears and plums – just to name a few!

Some of our top picks (pun intended) are Bilpin Springs Orchard and Shields Orchard. We recommend calling ahead or checking the orchards’ websites for seasonal crops and opening hours.

While you’re in Bilpin be sure to visit hidden gem, Tutti Frutti. Relax in the rose garden courtyard, take in the fresh mountain air and enjoy a Devonshire tea or a famous home cooked apple pie.

Treat the little ones to some real fruit icecream, a beautiful blend of fresh picked berries, and rich vanilla icecream made on site.

3) Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, Mount Tomah
The kids will be tuckered out after a day exploring Australia’s premier cool-climate botanic garden. Entry is free and you can easily spend hours wandering around this award winning attraction on a beautiful Autumn day.

4) Leuralla Toy and Railway Museum
Show your kids what life was like before Pokémon Go and Fortnight!

Housing the largest collection of 20th century toys, trains and associated memorabilia in the Southern Hemisphere, the Toy and Railway Museum will entertain the young and young at heart.

Explore the historic mansion and model railway displays set among 12 acres of beautiful gardens, Leuralla is a great spot for big and small kids alike.

5) Family friendly bushwalking
With over 100 hectares of Blue Mountains National Park to explore you’ll be spoilt for choice trying to pick the perfect hike for your family. The Scenic World team’s top two choices for a family friendly bushwalk are:

– The Charles Darwin Walk, Wentworth Falls
A completely flat walk connecting Wentworth Village with the Falls. It’s about 5kms return but easygoing and plenty of lovely places to stop along the way for snacks, or dip your feet in Jamison Creek.

– Gordon Falls Reserve, Leura
There are several short walks here, some to lookouts and one down to the Pool of Siloam. The reserve also has the added bonus of nearby play equipment, BBQs and plenty of shady grass areas; a perfect end to a family walk.
