Gung Hay Fat Choy - Chinese New Year

The lanterns symbolise the animal zodiac signs of the Chinese calendar. Whilst making sure you get a selfie with your birth sign check out the Sydney Harbour Bridge which will be lit up red for the duration of the festival.

Join Jonesy & Amanda as they attempt to break the World Record for the largest yum cha meal. My Kitchen Rules is joining up with City of Sydney in an attempt to break the world record. 1000 people (including you!) will descend on Tumbalong Park to wolf down a feast of dumplings. Get involved!

The Rocks Lunar Markets
Friday, Saturday, Sundays between February 1-10
The Rocks
The Rocks is turning their usual markets into a Lunar New Year celebration in honour of the Year of the Pig! Themed stalls and lanterns will line the cobbled streets and will include Mr Bao, Let's Do Yum Cha along with Merry Pops and Som Som Candy which will be serving up pig-shaped fairy floss!

Sydney Lunar New Year Festival Dragon Boat Races
9-10th February 2019
Cockle Bay Wharf
This is a site to be seen! Listen to the sounds of drums banging and spectators cheering as dragon boats fly through the waters of Darling Harbour.

The occasion begins with a unique Taoist eye dotting ceremony where the waters are blessed to ensure a safe weekend of racing. The eyes of the dragons are then dabbed with red paint which signifies the awakening of the dragons!
