ASIAN CAPTIVE ELEPHANT WORKING GROUP MEETING AT THE ECC

The ECC is the only Laos based member of the ACEWG, the Asian Captive Elephant Working Group.

Recognising the urgent need to create more awareness about both the problems and the possible solutions, as well as provide recommendations to improve health care and management practices for captive elephants in South East Asia, this group of regional elephant specialists, veterinarians, researchers and conservationists forms the ACEWG.

The ACEWG provides advice to Travelife, an auditing body that is currently designing a set of criteria for improved welfare of captive elephants in the tourism industry.

The ECC was honoured to host this meeting in Laos for the first time!
