A rare masterpiece of French art and one of the greatest surviving textiles from the European Middle Ages will be on view exclusively at the Art Gallery of New South Wales from February 10 to June 24, 2018.
On loan from the Musée de Cluny – Musée national du Moyen Âge, Paris, The Lady and the Unicorn is often referred to as the ‘Mona Lisa of the Middle Ages.’
NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Adam Marshall, said securing the exhibition is a prestigious honour for Sydney.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see this masterpiece in Sydney and we anticipate thousands of overnight visitors from Australia and abroad will travel to NSW specifically to see The Lady and the Unicorn,” Mr Marshall said.
The exhibition is supported by the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
