Entries are now open for Mt Buller’s annual Peak Pics Photography Competition, as well as the Mt Buller Short Film Festival, with photographers and filmmakers invited to submit their best work for the chance to win some great prizes.
Open to photographers of all levels of experience, from enthusiastic amateurs to savvy professionals, Peak Pics consists of four categories comprising of People, Landscape, Action and Light, under the theme “Never Miss a Moment”. A judging committee, headed by Mt Buller photographer Mark Ashkanasy will select up to twelve finalists, including one winner from each of the four categories. The collection of photograghs will be framed showcased in an artistic display in the Alpine Central building at the resort.
The Mt Buller Short Film Festival also returns for its sixth year, with filmmakers encouraged to enter their original short films showcasing their mountain adventures. Finalists will be selected by an expert judging panel and shown on the big screen at the 180-seat Mt Buller Cinema during a gala screening on Saturday, 13 August. Entries close on Friday, 31 July.
Group Manager of Marketing, Sales and Events for Mt Buller Resort Management, Gillian Dobson, is looking forward to seeing what entries will be received in 2016. “Peak Pics and the Mt Buller Short Film Festival are fantastic opportunities for people to show off their visual arts skills and highlight the beauty of our alpine environment. Over the past few years we have seen incredible talent across both competitions, so we’re really excited to see what 2016 holds.
“The Peak Pics winners will be announced on Saturday 17th of September., With fantastic prizes up for grabs, including a pair of skis or snowboard. we encourage everyone to get out and get snapping!”
