SYDNEY BELLES WITH BALLS GO BUSH FOR BROKEN HEEL

The artist line-up has been announced for the 2nd annual Broken Heel Festival, celebrating the 22nd birthday of Priscilla Queen of the Desert in the outback mining town of Broken Hill.

The exotic and luxurious Palace Hotel will be the centre of all the action from September 9 to 11, 2016, and the glittering line-up of acts features an array of guys and gals well known to Sydney audiences.

The undisputed queen of Sydney's premium club, Arq, Minnie Cooper has won so many DIVAs (Drag Industry Variety Award) she's run out of places to stick them, her accolades including Entertainer of the Year (three times), Sydney's Favourite Drag Queen and Choreographer of the Year.

A ludicrously gifted dancer and performer, Minnie has produced and choreographed many large-scale spectacles at events such as Mardi Gras and Sleaze Ball, and has worked with stars including Jimmy Barnes, Kylie Minogue, Tina Arena, David Atkins, Todd McKenney, Rhonda Burchmore and Australia’s most famous drag performer, Carlotta. Minnie Cooper will sizzle on Saturday September 10 at The Palace Hotel.

A special guest of the Broken Heel Festival will be the one and only Vanity Faire, who burst onto the Sydney drag scene in 1998 as a young energetic amateur queen.

With dazzling supermodel looks and talent to match, Vanity has won a deluge of DIVAs and, in 2007, joined the stage musical of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert as Associate Make Up Designer and Wig Supervisor, a job that took her all over the world including the West End and Broadway.

Vanity Faire will be wigging out at The Palace Hotel on Saturday September 10.

Also making the trip from Sydney will be rising star, Hannah Conda. Originally hailing from Perth, where she took her first dolly steps onto the drag stage just five years ago,

Hannah shifted to Sydney in 2015 and is already taking the city's drag scene by the balls.

A fearless and hardworking performer, Hannah will leave not a dry seat in the house when she performs at the Palace Hotel on Saturday September 10.

BAAB – The Abba Coverband (“where the girls dress as the boys and the boys dress as the girls”) will also be making the roadtrip along with Melbourne cabaret sensations Yana Alana, Jemima Handful, the buxom burlesque beauty Frankie Valentine, Grrlfest’s BamBam, DJ Magnus & DJ Mojo Juju plus the glamorous festival hosts Philmah Bocks and Art Simone. Adelaide’s 85 yr old Drag Artiste Rouge & ex Les Girl drag veteran Vonnie, King of Singing sensation Zackari Watt (Newc) & Manuel Huung (NT) are all part of an busload of entertainers destined for the celebration.

So why not get your tush in the bush for the Broken Heel Festival?

Tickets are available online via Moshtix or by phoning The Palace Hotel, 08 8088 1699, Monday to Friday between 9-5pm.
