Ha Noi: Robust growth seen in tourism market

Ha Noi
Travel agents in the capital city of Hanoi are expecting a growth of 30 percent during this summer holiday season.

According to Nguyen Cong Hoan, Deputy General Director of Hanoi Redtour, the booking of summer tours through his company is estimated to increase 25-30 percent year-on-year.

The company sells 3,500-4,000 tours to its customers a month, 50 percent of which heads to foreign countries.

Meanwhile, Vietrantour tour operator sees the number of summer holidaymakers to hit more than 10,000, which is 30 percent higher than the figure in the same period last year.

Hanoians often go to beaches to escape the summer heat. However, they keep off the beaches from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien-Hue in the central region this summer due to the recent environmental incident that affected the marine environment there.

Therefore, Ha Long, Cat Ba and Sam Son, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Mui Ne are welcoming more visitors than the last summer.

Many Ha Noi tourists have purchased tours to the EU, the UK, Russia and the US and places noted for entertainment activities like Disneyland in Hong Kong, Universal Studio in Singapore and Everland in the Republic of Korea (RoK), said Pham Bich Ngoc, deputy director of Vietrantour.

In a bid to prepare for the holiday rush, travel companies have introduced new and attractive tourism packages. Vietrantour offers its customers with discount tours, reward point gifts and free round-trip tickets to Quang Binh, Da Nang, Nha Trang and Singapore.

Along with special promotional tourism packages, Vietravel runs lucky drawing, gift presenting and refund programmes. The company is also developing its tourism market in Peru with interesting culture and stunning landscapes for Vietnamese people, especially those who seek experiences in exploratory expeditions.

The Korean Tourism Organisation (KTO) has recently launched its healthcare tourism products in Viet Nam. Some 3,000 Vietnamese people book the tours to the RoK and the number is expected to surge in the coming time.

Despite the soaring number of tourists stemming from promotional tourist programmes, the tour prices this year is almost similar to the corresponding period last year, tourism companies said.
