The number of foreign tourists visiting Thailand for the January to July period this year was 14.96 million, an increase of 20.77 per cent or 2.53 million compared to the same period last year.
In July alone, there were 2.22 million tourists coming to Thailand, an increase of 407,971 or 22.47 per cent over the same period last year, Thai government spokesman Teerat Rattansevi told reporters.
He said Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sport reported the figures at the Cabinet meeting here today.
He said the top 10 tourist sources are China, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Vietnam, Singapore, India, Australia and Russia.
The ministry has projected that the tourism industry sector will grow significantly, he added.
