For many decades, when thinking about spending relaxed time with family or friends, the question was, “where do we find a resort that looks and feels like a home, and a home that has the looks and amenities of a resort?” With this in mind, Six Senses Douro Valley brings larger groups a choice of out-of-the-ordinary villas with connected rooms, generous outdoor space, and features to make it a home away from home.
Available to book now for stays from this July, guests will be able to book a One Bedroom Pool Villa or Two Bedroom Pool Villa, both with private pools and vineyard views, or choose from nine separate Valley Rooms and Suites, which may be reserved individually or together to offer up to nine bedrooms.
Valley Rooms and Suites
The property's original wine lodge is situated on the other side of the organic kitchen garden. This has been restored and converted into nine separate ensuite Valley Rooms and Suites. There is a large and spacious lounge area with a magnificent fireplace as the central element. It provides the perfect place for hosting convivial moments throughout the day, starting with a continental breakfast and coffee to greet sleepy heads before the morning activities get underway. Guests can also enjoy a homemade farmhouse breakfast in the Open Kitchen. All through the day, the lounge is a natural gathering space for a glass of wine from the Enomatic wine fridge, and a bartender is on hand to prepare colorful cocktails at sundown.
In addition to the two Superior Rooms, each with a private terrace, and the Premier Room with its own private terrace and vitality pool, there are five Valley Suites, some with a terrace or balcony and one with a fully equipped kitchen.
The pick of the bunch, the Valley Master Suite, offers its own spacious dining/living area with an open fireplace, bathroom with infrared sauna and bathtub, and floor-to-ceiling windows, which lead the eye across the shared gardens and pool area. The gardens are spread across different levels and are cleverly integrated into the valley at the foot of the gently terraced vineyard to offer uninterrupted views of the horizon. There are several lounge areas with different aspects to provide shade and sun, stepping down to a lawn on the ground level and a shared swimming pool (14 by 4 meters) equipped with a counter-current machine. There is also a garden bar, an oversized vitality pool, a fire pit, and a fragrant organic garden. Two gazebos, located on each side of the pool, are the perfect location to lie in the shade during the hot summer days.
Pool Villas
The One Bedroom and Two Bedroom Pool Villas feature locally inspired architecture and furnishings, enhanced with modern comforts and amenities. Each has a fully appointed kitchen, separate dining and living areas, fireplace, and wine fridge. Outside, there is a separate entrance, a heated pool with a counter-current swimming machine, a small lawn area with fragrant shrubs, a private sundeck with day beds, and a gazebo. Anytime is the perfect time for an intimate dinner prepared by the chef to enjoy in the cozy dining area or outside in the garden.
Everything that could be expected from a Six Senses stay is included, such as priority in-room service and a dedicated GEM (Guest Experience Maker), to ensure everyone enjoys precious time all together and equally valuable moments spent alone.
