Dim Yum! the Langham, Melbourne's Melba Restaurant Tempts Diners With Cantonese Celebration for Chinese New Year

DIM YUM! THE LANGHAM, MELBOURNE'S MELBA RESTAURANT TEMPTS DINERS WITH CANTONESE CELEBRATION FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR

To celebrate the Year of the Pig, The Langham, Melbourne is introducing elements of contemporary and traditional Chinese cuisine at Melba Restaurant at dinner on Chinese New Year's eve, Monday 4 February and at lunch and dinner on Chinese New Year's day on Tuesday 5 February 2019.
It's no secret that Melba Restaurant is renowned for one of its signature dishes, five spice duck pancakes and the restaurant's team of chefs will be roasting plenty of ducks in anticipation as well as preparing Xiao Long Bao steamed pork buns, har gow prawn dumplings, five spiced crispy pork belly, chilli-marinated jellyfish, Chinese braised chicken with mushrooms and scallions, egg drop soup with crabmeat, steamed snapper with soy ginger sauce and Chinese desserts including hot, five spiced pineapple crumble, Mandarin eclairs and cheesecake and Chinese egg tart.
The Langham Melbourne's Executive Chef, Deepak Mishra has also put a Chinese spin on traditional Eton Mess by swapping strawberries for lychees and transforming a classic French dessert into oolong tea creme brulée and putting a twist on Italian pannacotta by making this creamy dessert with Jasmine tea.
Melba's Insta-worthy seafood stations will be brimming with fresh seafood including blue swimmer crabs, sweet chilli-marinated green lip mussels, marinated octopus with sesame, prawns, Atlantic smoked salmon, Pacific scallop salad, Alaskan crab salad, sushi, sashimi and Tasmanian oysters.
Melba's wok station will by frying up calamari with black bean sauce and spring onion, mee sua noodles with seafood and vegetable “longevity noodles” and beef hor fun while the barbeque station will be serving grilled hoisin marinated grass-fed sirloin steak.
Diners will be given lucky envelopes and fortune cookies and all hotel guests and diners can admire the hotel's distinctive floral display of gold and red blooms and decorations.
The Chinese New Year's eve dinner is $104.00 per adult ($56.00 per child).
Chinese New Year's day lunch and dinner is $109.00 per adult ($54.50 per child) and is available from 5pm until 7.30pm and 8.30pm until 11pm.
