Registrations open for CINZ Conference 2018 in Auckland

Registrations are now open for the 42nd Conventions and Incentives New Zealand (CINZ) Annual Conference from 30 October to 1 November 2018.

For the first time, the CINZ Conference and Annual General Meeting is being held in Auckland. Tourism New Zealand is hosting a keynote international speaker for the two-day event to be staged at Cordis Auckland.

CINZ Chief Executive Sue Sullivan says the strong 2018 theme is 'Breaking New Ground' and the event is promising to be its biggest yet, with a new component for young professionals added to the programme.

“We are at a critical point in our development as a global business events destination and it is timely we have several international guests speak to us on trends, what the future holds for the sector and our talent pipeline.

“We will be highlighting the growth ahead for the business events sector in New Zealand as new infrastructure and major events come online from 2020. Traditional presentations will be supplemented by panel discussions, case studies, workshops, and TED-style Talks.”

Focusing on international trends for the sector, keynote speakers will include Oscar Cerezales, Chief Operating Officer at leading association and congress management company MCI Asia Pacific and Jan Tonkin, Managing Director of The Conference Company.

Leading New Zealand economist and author Shamubeel Eaqub will examine the high value value of the business events sector, and Auckland will showcase its Road to 2021 strategy.

This year CINZ has introduced an Emerging Talent stream as a separate half-day programme on 1 November with practical skills and inspiration for professional development.

“This is an opportunity for our future leaders to hear from six top speakers including Sian Simpson, the high-flying millennial Global Community Director of Kiwi Landing Pad based in San Francisco,” Sue Sullivan says.

“Networking amongst our industry is also a vital part of conference, and we will be making the most of Auckland’s iconic venues on the waterfront and beyond to welcome our industry members and guests.”
