New anchors display at the Maritime Museum of Townsville

Some of the Museum's collection of anchors have been relocated to a safer position and are now interpreted with signage, explaining the types of anchors.

The image shows this new display together with the lifeboat of the Australian Army Vessel Moorah, which has been refurbished by Museum volunteers. This was made possible through a heritage grant from the Townsville City Council.

The Moorah has now been appropriately "anchored" using a stockless anchor.
