BIENNALE OF SYDNEY UNVEILS PROGRAM

Law of the Journey by Ai Weiwei
Seventy artists will present work at seven venues across Sydney over three months for Australia’s premier contemporary art event, the Biennale of Sydney.

Recognised for showcasing innovative and thought-provoking Australian and international art, the Biennale will feature participating artists from six continents, including Africa, Asia, Australia, North and South America and Europe.

Among the highlights will be two sculptures from Ai Weiwei – a one-metre diameter Crystal Ball and Law of the Journey, a 60-metre inflatable boat filled with 250 refugee figures, which will be displayed at Cockatoo Island. Ai Weiwei will also appear in conversation with Artistic Director Mami Katoaka in a personal and political discussion about the artist’s work since he left China.

Supported by the NSW Government via Create NSW and Destination NSW, the Biennale of Sydney is a free event spanning three months from 16 March until 11 June 2018.
