Moab Music Festival Winterlude Concert

Think of it as the prologue to the next season of the Moab Music Festival, the 2016 Winterlude Concert at 7pm on Friday, March 4 at Star Hall, featuring internationally renowned violinists Hasse Borup, Kasia Sokol-Borup and the University of Utah Michie graduate string quartet, alongside Festival Music Director Michael Barrett on piano and Artistic Director Leslie Tomkins on viola.

We're talking ONE NIGHT ONLY and the tickets are FREE (with a recommended donation of $10 per person.)

But how sweet is the sound of giving... As part of the Festival's Education and Community Outreach Program ---- and in keeping with the Moab Music Festival's immense and unique commitment to the Moab community (in particular to its music education programs throughout the school system) ---- all concert proceeds will offset the cost of sending three of Moab's BEACON Strings teachers to a two-week masters course in strings education in the summer of 2016 (total cost nearly $3000).

In addition, in the week leading up to the concert, guest artists will pay visits to beginning and intermediate music classes, and will conduct daily two-hour workshops for the BEACON Strings Orchestra for advanced students.

Those students will then perform two or three short pieces with the visiting artists at the beginning of the Friday evening concert.

The rest of the program includes String Quartet No. 4 by Béla Bartók and the Piano Quintet, Op. 44 by Robert Schumann. Tickets at the door.
