Rockingham's Friendly Dolphins Welcome the USA and China Swim Teams to Perth

Rockingham Wild Encounters
Some of the world's best swimmers from China and the USA, got up close and personal with wild dolphins on Rockingham Wild Encounters tours last week, including Ryan Lochte 11 time Olympic medallist.

The swimmers were here in Perth for the BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series (International Swimming and Water Polo competition), held at Challenge Stadium.

The Chinese team joined the tour on Sunday 1st February and USA on Friday 6th February. Both teams enjoyed their down time on the boat and the dolphins were very social, even the inquisitive females brought their calves in close to swimmers to show them off.

Rockingham Wild Encounters Director, Terry Howson said the International guests all had a great time and enjoyed amazing interactions with the dolphins. Rockingham Wild Encounters was thankful to the teams and Tourism WA for allowing them to showcase their unique experience.

Some of the swimmers took to social media to comment. An Instagram post from one of the girls on Team USA read: 'Swam with wild dolphins today…most amazing experience ever, life complete! Thanks @rockinghamwild'.

The teams then jumped aboard an afternoon ferry out to Penguin Island to visit the little penguins of the Discovery Centre, see the penguin feeding display and explore the island at their leisure.

Based just 45 minutes south of Perth in the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park, Rockingham Wild Encounters offers the multi award winning Swim with Wild Dolphins tour, the 90 minute Dolphin, Penguin and Sea Lion Adventure cruise, a 45 minute glass bottom cruise, plus 5 minute ferry service to Penguin Island - home to WA's largest colony of little penguins.
