Tribes and Tropical Forests of Xishuangbanna China

Xishuangbanna
Backyard Travel, the online boutique travel agency specializing in unique and insider tours to Asia have today released news of a fascinating new tour to the unknown Chinese region of Xishuangbanna, home to tropical rainforests and indigenous tribes.

Xishuangbanna is situated in the south of China in Yunnan province, bordering Laos and Myanmar. On this fully guided three-day tour travellers will explore the incredible natural environment and learn about the unique traditions of some of the different indigenous groups that make up the majority population of this lesser-known region.

With wildlife that includes wild elephants, monkeys and different tropical birds, along with its thick jungle, this idyllic region of China has an appearance similar to many Southeast Asian countries. Travellers will visit the majestic Sanchahe Nature Reserve, which is home to around 300 wild elephants, and there they will have the opportunity to view the stunning natural surroundings from above the jungle canopy on an aerial walkway.

Based in the region's cultural capital, Jinghong, travellers will visit some of Yunnan Province's most impressive cultural sites, such as the beautiful Manfeilong Pagoda and the striking Mange Buddhist Temple.

Throughout the three days, travellers will enjoy many more insider experiences such as the opportunity to learn in depth about the fascinating history and culture of some of the local tribal groups, such as the Lahu, Bulong and Jinuo. With guided walks through different indigenous villages, travellers have the opportunity to interact with the local tribes and learn more about their unique traditions.

“The Xishuangbanna region is one of the unearthed gems of Asia,” said Backyard Travel's General Manager Maeve Nolan. “At the moment it seems that not many have discovered its natural beauty, and as such the region provides a real 'off the well-trodden path' appeal”.

This unique tour is priced from $575 per person which is based on two people travelling, sharing a double/twin room, including daily breakfast and one dinner. All excursions are private and fully guided, tours and transfers are by private air-conditioned vehicle (with drinking water and cold towels provided) and all entrance fees mentioned in the visits are included.
