MCEC Announce Speakers for Open Space 2014

Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) will welcome three of Australia’s most influential leaders in design, advertising and science to its Plenary stage on Thursday 20 February for Open Space 2014.

The free public event will coincide with Business Events Week and the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) which is hosted annually at MCEC.

Open Space guests will hear inspiring and thought-provoking talks around the event’s theme of innovation from:
  • Dr Ken Cato AO – renowned designer and founder of agIdeas International Design Week
  • Dr Cathy Foley – leading scientist and Chief of CSIRO’s Materials Science and Engineering Division
  • Todd Sampson – CEO of advertising agency Leo Burnett and panellist on ABC’s The Gruen Transfer

Get involved with the discussion by taking part in the Q & A session and join conversations via social media which will be streamed on MCEC’s event twitter feeds.

MCEC’s Chief Executive Peter King said he was looking forward to the venue’s second Open Space.

“Last year our guests came along ‘expecting the unexpected’ and left genuinely surprised at what we can deliver and this year we plan to amaze and inspire our guests again.

“At MCEC’s Open Space you will be educated, entertained and enjoy sensational catering from our talented kitchen team so don’t miss out and register now for your free ticket.”

Open Space will highlight the creative use of MCEC’s spaces, showcasing the venue’s ability to transform for any event, as well as its technology, green design and award-winning food using local produce.

Following the Plenary session wander through the hawker-style food market and urban-inspired installation in the Convention Centre’s foyer, featuring recycled milk crates and vertical gardens, and enjoy a complimentary taste of MCEC’s in-house catering.
