The Gold Coast Airport is set to welcome its first Hong Kong connection in six years, with Hong Kong Airlines today announcing they will commence a seasonal service, taking flight mid-January 2025. The service will operate four times per week for a five-week season over the Chinese New Year period, delivering approximately 6,000 seats to the Gold Coast.

Indonesia AirAsia’s inaugural service from Denpasar also touched down in Cairns last week, with flights now operating three times per week bringing more than 63,000 seats into the Cairns market over three years. The flights will open up one-stop connections between Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and other Indonesian ports using Denpasar as a hub and are expected to generate up to $31 million over three years in overnight visitor expenditure for the region.

These are two of the latest services to be secured via support through the Queensland Government’s Attracting Aviation Investment Fund.
