A unique natural wonder in Mie Prefecture well worth the adventure

Standing at 80 metres high and with a circumference of some 550 metres is the massive rock formation of Tategasaki.

The basalt pillars were created around 14 million years ago by molten magma from volcanic eruptions.

Located along the Nigishima Bay in Kumano City, you can observe this spectacular geological marvel on a hike, or get an up-close view on a boat tour.

Would you visit this gigantic rock?
