READY, SET...TRAVEL! Aussies are doing away with pre-planning and booking more spur-of-the-moment trips to beat their wanderlust woes. Research from Trafalgar, part of the wider The Travel Corporation family, has revealed we're keen to pack our bags, with a 1,087% increase in bookings from April to June, compared to January to March this year.
Moreover, Aussies are keen to depart sooner rather than later, signalling the nation’s confidence in overseas travel returning. Aussies are dusting off their passports and booking trips at what could be considered the eleventh hour.
And where are we jetting off to in such a rush? You guessed it - Europe. A place that continues to play on hearts and minds with 78% of all trip bookings this year* so far touching down in the continent.
Toni Ambler, Managing Director, Trafalgar Australia and New Zealand says: “There is no doubt that Aussies are keen to get out there and explore. We are seeing a shorter window between booking and travelling, and September is shaping up to be one of the most popular times to travel. A third of current Trafalgar bookings are set to touch down in Europe during this one month”.
Travellers living ‘la dolce vita’ in Europe this September are likely to be greeted with beautiful balmy weather and fewer crowds, as the peak travel season winds down.
Ellen Potters, a Trafalgar Travel Director for the company's European tours, says: “There is no better time to travel than the late European summer. Whether you dream of strolling the charming French countryside or joining the locals for a beer fest in Germany, there are endless pinch-me moments awaiting spontaneous travellers who book that last-minute trip for September".
For travellers raring to go, Trafalgar is offering 10% off September itineraries across the globe, including trips to Europe, Great Britain, Asia, Canada and the United States until July 28, 2022. There’s limited availability, travellers will need to book soon to secure their place. Aussies can begin exploring online at Trafalgar.com.
