| Ao dai performance kicks off the 8th Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival |
Lasting from 5th March to 15th April, under the theme "I love Vietnamese Ao dai", the festival will honor traditional cultural values and the love for Ao Dai (traditional long dress) as well as promote Ho Chi Minh City - a safe destination in the context of restarting Vietnam tourism post Covid-19.
The 8th Ao Dai Festival is organized in the context that the whole country is resuming socio-economic activities, returning to a "new normal" and Ho Chi Minh City has become a "green zone" - a safe area from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The festival will open on 5th March at President Ho Chi Minh Monument Park and Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street. The public will admire 15 collections of designers with more than 300 models of Ao Dai presented under 4 themes: Origin, Sublimation, Integration and My beloved city. In particular, the collection of "My beloved city" will show the vivid image of Ho Chi Minh City with famous tourist destinations, new architectures, and modern technology.
After the opening ceremony, there were a series of activities such as: Ao Dai parade themed "Aspiration for peace" with the participation of more than 2,000 people; Art program performing Ao Dai collections themed "Ao Dai Oi"; Exhibition space of Ao Dai and tourist destination; Contest "Graceful Ao Dai Ho Chi Minh City"; Online contest on Ao Dai; The campaign to design Ao Dai with the theme "Ao Dai to the World"; Drawing contest on Ao Dai with the theme "Ao Dai and flowers".
Online contest on Ao Dai is from 4th to 31st of March in Tikok and festival website. Types of intangible cultural heritage such as Quan Ho, Vi - Giam, Don ca tai tu will be performed at Exhibition space of Ao Dai and tourist destination.
Responding to the International Women's Day 8th March as well as accompanying the Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival 2022, on 1st March, the Southern Women's Museum opened the thematic exhibition "Ao Dai - Characters and Events" introducing Ao Dai associated with female characters in the two resistance wars; Photo exhibition "Ao Dai past and present" with more than 60 documentary photos of Ao Dai from the early 19th century to the present; discount programs when Ao Dai tailoring, buying Ao Dai fabric during the peak period from 7th March to 11th March.
In March and April, at the Ao Dai Museum, there will be "Ao Dai and its roots" exhibition of female characters who have made many contributions in the fields of politics, diplomacy, health and culture; Exhibition of Ao Dai collection in pink colour themed "Happiness"; Exhibiting Ao Dai with topics "Ao Dai history", "Ao Dai integration"...
