Itsukushima, an Island-shrine

Make your visit to Hiroshima a wholesome experience by taking a trip to Itsukushima, an island-shrine that is famous for its red torii gate.

While in the area, go for a taste of local specialties such as grilled juicy oysters and anago-meshi (broiled eel served on top of rice).

For a sweet snack, there is the maple leaf-shaped momiji manju bun, which can also be brought home as a souvenir.

Don’t forget to pick up a shamoji, a wooden rice scoop which is believed to bring you fortune!
