Sagres Birdwatching Festival

The Algarve is the southernmost region in Portugal known for its 200km coastline and more than 300 days of sun each year.

The Algarve’s 16 municipalities offer traditional and distinct experiences that allow for visitors to discover its rich heritage as a region.

Sagres is a verdant region in the western point of the Algarve, and the main crossing point in Portugal for migratory birds, enroute to their final destination of Africa.

This festival organised with the Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds (SPEA), is a celebration of nature as well as wildlife.

The programme also includes around 200 nature-related activities including nature excursions, boat trips, guided tours and bird ringing.

The Sagres Birdwatching Festival attracts dedicated 'twitchers' and those with a more general interest in wildlife.
