Historic Hever Castle in Kent

Hever Castle, which is located in the village of Hever, was first built in 1270 but came to prominence some two hundred and thirty years later when it was the seat of the Boleyn family.

Anne Boleyn, the second (of six) queens of Tudor King Henry VIII of England, spent her childhood there and Hever also passed to Henry’s fourth wife, Anne of Cleves. Hever Castle & Gardens offers visitors the chance to learn more about the Tudors and the Astor family, who owned the Castle for 80 years from 1903.

Along with three floors of antique furniture there is Anne Boleyn's prayer books, instruments of torture, and a large collection of Tudor paintings.

There are also landscaped grounds and ornamental gardens along with a yew maze, planted in 1904.

An annual events programme including Hever in Bloom and jousting tournaments and archery displays. Haunted Halloween 19 to 31 October 2019 Visitors with children can enjoy Haunted Hever with spooky storytelling, Halloween craft activity, a scarecrow scavenger hunt and biscuit decorating workshops.

Kids are invited to dress in the scariest of outfits finished off with a face paint and the fancy dress costume competition. Christmas at Hever Castle & Gardens Wednesdays to Sundays from 23 November and daily from 9 to 24 December 2019.

During the festive season the rooms at the Castle will be traditionally decorated with twinkling lights and log fires.

Outside the grounds will have an Alice in Wonderland themed interactive trail, with uplighting and colour washes after dark.
