CAMBRiA LAX
There is much to celebrate in Los Angeles in the coming months including new hotel openings such as NoMad Los Angeles and Hotel Figueroa.

CAMBRiA LAX (Beach Cities) – 
Choice Hotels International’s upscale CAMBRiA badge has entered the Los Angeles area with the opening of The CAMBRiA Hotel Los Angeles – LAX. Opened in July 2017, the hotel is developed by Fillmore Hospitality and features 152 rooms and a bistro called Social Circle. The hotel is located about two miles south of Los Angeles International Airport. www.cambriahotelsandsuites.com

Downtown L.A. Proper Hotel (Downtown) – 
Proper Hospitality, the new brand headed by former Viceroy Hotels chief Brad Korzen, is slated to debut their first Los Angeles hotel (joining their residential project, Hollywood Proper Residences) with a Downtown L.A. property located at the site of the former Case Hotel. The 13-story property, which was built in 1924, will have 148 rooms and has plans to open in fall 2018. www.properhotel.com/hotels/downtown-la

Dream Hollywood Hotel (Hollywood) – 
The West Coast’s first Dream Hotel debuted in the heart of Hollywood on Selma and Cahuenga in July 2017. Designed by the award-winning Rockwell Group, the 10-story boutique Dream Hollywood Hotel features 179 hyper-chic rooms, unique-to-market dining experiences and an 11,000-square-foot rooftop lounge area. www.dreamhotels.com

Fairmont Century Plaza (Century City) – 
AccorHotels’ Fairmont badge will take over the landmark Century Plaza hotel in Century City when the property is redeveloped. Scheduled to open in June 2019, the Fairmont Century Plaza will have 394 rooms and 63 luxury residences, down from the hotel’s 726 rooms when it shuttered in 2016. The project will also have 290 luxury residences in the project’s two new 46-story towers. www.fairmont.com

The Godfrey Hotel (Hollywood) –
The 60,000-square-feet Godfrey hotel will be a high-end boutique hotel that addresses the lifestyle of the contemporary jet-setting professional. The project features amenities that will allow travellers to conduct business both locally and remotely, while enjoying the unique room and food experiences that the Godfrey brand has become known for in Chicago and Boston. Grupo Habita Project (Arts District) – 
The first L.A. project for Grupo Habita, a hotel group that develops some of the hippest hotels in Mexico City, Chicago, and New York will take over a 109-year-old brick warehouse in the Arts District into modern accommodations with a rooftop lounge, garden and pool. Construction on the property is taking place with a projected opening date of late 2018/early 2019.

Freehand Los Angeles (Downtown) – 
Sydell Group introduced the Freehand Los Angeles in June 2017 after transforming the 1924 Commercial Exchange Building in Downtown L.A.’s Historic Core. The 13-story building boasts 226 rooms, ranging from traditional accommodations to high-design hostels (or “poshtels”) with up to eight beds. H Hotel/Homewood Suites (LAX) – 
A dual-branded property under Hilton’s Curio Collection and Homewood Suites badges opened in September 2017 at the site of a former office building near LAX. The H Hotel, L.A.’s first hotel within the Curio Collection, has 168 rooms and boasts an elevated deck and fitness center with nearly 360 degree views of the Pacific Ocean, Downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood. Hotel Figueroa (Downtown) – 
Hotel Figueroa is in its soft stages of opening after a renovation that will transform its Moroccan décor to a new contemporary aesthetic with a touch of Spanish flare. Hotel Figueroa will offer expanded bathrooms, 57 new suites, a second restaurant, a fourth bar and a garden on the roof. New windows have been installed in rooms to help block out the noise from Figueroa Street. www.hotelfigueroa.com

Hotel Indigo Downtown Los Angeles (Downtown) – 
InterContinental Hotels Group debuted Hotel Indigo Downtown Los Angeles, a hip 350-room hotel in April 2017. The 18-story Hotel Indigo is the flagship hotel at Metropolis, a $1 billion mixed-use development, which will feature three residential towers, curated retail experience and a rooftop bar. The property sits at the heart of Downtown L.A., linking the Financial District to L.A. LIVE. Design for the hotel is inspired by its surrounding neighbourhood and focuses on prominent narratives from Downtown’s past including Fiesta De Las Flores, the glamorous pre-Hollywood nightlife scene and the underground speakeasies of the roaring twenties. www.ihg.com/hotelindigo

InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown (Downtown) –
InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown 
InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown is part of the tallest U.S. building west of Chicago as the Wilshire Grand Center and opened in July 2017. The hotel features 889 rooms, 110 suites and one presidential suite, including a “sky lobby” on the 70th floor. There is nearly 100,000 sq. ft. of meetings, conventions and event space. Wilshire Grand Center is a $1.1 billion project, which is developed by Korean Air and Hanjin Group, and also includes 400,000 square feet of offices and 45,000 square feet of retail space. The Jeremy West Hollywood (West Hollywood) –
Opened August 2017, The Jeremy West Hollywood Hotel has moved in on the corner of Sunset and La Cienega and features stunning panoramic views of the Hollywood Hills and Los Angeles Basin. The 286-room hotel, which was previously earmarked to be operated under Denihan Hospitality’s James brand, will be transformed into a 1 Hotels eco-luxe property during the next year. www.jeremyhotel.com

La Peer (West Hollywood) – 
Opened in January 2018, La Peer Hotel features 105 guest rooms and suites, a rooftop event space, poolside fitness center and more than 8,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor dining and lounge spaces. Native Hotel (Malibu) – 
Originally built in 1947, Native Hotel (formerly known as the Malibu Riviera) was remodeled in Spring 2017 and has unveiled a modern new look inspired by old paradise charm. Nobu Ryokan Malibu (Beach Cities) –
Nobu Hospitality, famous for Nobu Matsuhisa’s signature restaurants, reclaimed the former Casa Malibu and repurposed it as a ryokan, or traditional Japanese inn. The beachfront property, which is owned by tech magnate Larry Ellison, has 16 custom rooms and opened in April 2017. www.nobuhotels.com

NoMad Hotel (Downtown) – 
Sydell Group, which opened Koreatown’s The LINE Hotel in 2014, has opened the Los Angeles outpost of New York’s NoMad Hotel on January 20, 2018. The NoMad is redeveloped out of Downtown’s Giannini Place, which was built in 1923 as the headquarters for Bank of Italy (which became Bank of America). The 12-story hotel has about 250 rooms as well as a rooftop pool. L.A. is the first city where three Sydell Group brands are represented. www.sydellgroup.com/nomad/los-angeles

Park Hyatt/Oceanwide Plaza (Downtown) – 
Park Hyatt/Oceanwide Plaza 
Oceanwide Plaza, the mixed-use project that will be built adjacent to STAPLES Center and L.A. LIVE, will include L.A.'s first hotel under the Park Hyatt luxury badge. Slated to open in early 2019, the Park Hyatt Los Angeles will have 184 rooms, including 34 suites. www.oceanwideplaza.com

The Pod (Downtown) – 
The New York-based micro-suite specialist will enter Los Angeles with the redevelopment of the old Hotel Cecil site, which houses the Stay on Main budget property as well as about 300 residential units. The new hotel will have 340 rooms when it opens in mid-2019.

Soho Warehouse (Arts District) – 
Construction is now underway for the anticipated Soho Warehouse in the Arts District taking over in a six-story, 100-year-old building at 1000 S. Santa Fe Avenue. It will have a 71-seat music performance room, 800-seat public market, restaurant, bar and backyard, 39-seat spa and salon, 10-seat gym area and flexible event space, 39-seat screening room, 267-seat club, music room, restaurant and bar and 197-seat pool terrace, lounge and bar. Soho Warehouse is scheduled to open in 2018.

The Surfrider Malibu (Malibu) – 
A modern California Beach House, inspired by the picturesque Malibu landscape and rich heritage of California surf culture. Personifying Malibu’s historic beach-town community, the complete redesign of the original 1950s-era motel has transformed The Surfrider into a contemporary boutique hotel that gives guests an unparalleled and elevated visit to Malibu. Thompson Hollywood (Hollywood) – 
Two Roads Hospitality’s Thompson lifestyle brand, which previously operated the Hollywood Roosevelt, will return to the area in mid-2019 with a new-build property on Wilcox Avenue between Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards. The 200-room hotel, to be built by Dream Hollywood developer Relevant Group, will have a rooftop deck with a pool.

Tommie Hotel (Hollywood) – 
With lush greenspace and an array of communal amenities, this new Tommie Hotel is designed to entice the young professional crowd going out in Hollywood to stay for the night or weekend. The Tommie Hotel Los Angeles sits at the intersection of Wilcox and Selma Avenues in Hollywood, adjacent to an existing Mama Shelter hotel. The property is slated to open July 2018.

Waldorf Astoria (Beverly Hills) – 
The Los Angeles area’s first hotel under Hilton Worldwide’s Waldorf Astoria luxury brand opened in June 2017 on the triangular corner next to the Beverly Hilton. The newly-built property, with Streamline Moderne design influences, is 12 stories tall and features 170 rooms. www.waldorfastoriabeverlyhills.com

Debuting in January 2018 as the first Autograph Collection hotel in Los Angeles, the 26-acre westdrift Manhattan Beach will boast 392 luxury guest rooms, a nine-hole golf course, a signature indoor/outdoor restaurant, a CrossFit-inspired fitness center and more than 35,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor space, including 18 meeting rooms, a traditional ballroom and three large, industrial-chic venues. westdrift Manhattan Beach will provide the ideal blend of business and pleasure, the ultimate space for gatherings large or small.
