Tourism and hospitality businesses in NSW Australia can now access a network of skills
advisors to deliver free tailored workforce development advice through
Workforce Futures, a new Workforce Development initiative worth $11.8
million.
Funding for the Workforce Futures program has been provided by industry
and government through the National Workforce Development Fund. The
program will be managed by Service Skills Australia (SSA) and is built
around a national network of 100 industry Skills Advisors engagement
facilitates an informed approach to target skills development within
businesses.
Participation in the program is open to small and medium sized tourism
businesses throughout NSW. Key benefits for a business include access to
their own Skills Advisor for up to 17.5 hours of face to face
discussion, advice, planning, support and mentoring. Key outputs include
a business specific workforce plan that identifies labour and skills
issues such as recruitment and retention; potential strategies to
address these issues including workforce profiles, plans to action, and
assistance in identifying the right training for staff, funding for
training (including $2.4 million under the National Workforce
Development Fund).
