The 35th Australian Surfing Awards were held on Wednesday night in Sydney, marking a significant milestone in Surfing Australia’s history as it celebrated its 50th Anniversary.

During the ceremony, current ASP World Champions Joel Parkinson and Stephanie Gilmore were named Male and Female Surfer of the Year ahead of their appearance at Surfest in Newcastle this weekend. Stephanie Gilmore was also inducted into the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame.

ASP Men’s World Junior Champion, Jack Freestone, won the Rising Star Award and Mark Richards was named Australia’s Most Influential Surfer 1963-2013.
