Sri Lanka’s tourism and hospitality sector is set to receive a major boost with the launch of the “Sathkaraye Shrama Sena – Hotel Operations Multitasker Program.” This landmark initiative is spearheaded by the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (SLITHM) in collaboration with the Department of Samurdi Development.

The program is designed to equip young Sri Lankans with multi-skilled training, enabling them to excel in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the tourism and hospitality industry. By providing practical knowledge and hands-on experience, the initiative aims to bridge the skills gap and strengthen Sri Lanka’s position as a world-class travel destination.

A Strong Public–Private Partnership Model

The Hotel Operations Multitasker Program is built upon a robust Public–Private Partnership (PPP) framework. It brings together the expertise of government institutions, private training providers, and industry leaders to maximize both the reach and quality of training.

With 35 franchise institutes established across all districts of Sri Lanka, the program ensures equal access for youth in urban and rural areas. This wide network makes it one of the most inclusive hospitality training initiatives ever introduced in the country.

• NVQ Level 3 Certification, a nationally recognized qualification for career growth

The official launch of the Sathkaraye Shrama Sena – Hotel Operations Multitasker Program took place on 3 September 2025 at the SLITHM Main Auditorium.
