Cathay Cargo: A Global Leader in Air Freight
With Hong Kong International Airport ranked as the world’s busiest cargo hub, Cathay Cargo plays a crucial role in global trade. The airline’s efficient logistics network, cutting-edge technology, and commitment to service have earned it the title of Cargo Operator of the Year for the second time in three years.One of Cathay Cargo’s most innovative projects is its intermodal service between Hong Kong and Dongguan, designed to streamline cargo movement between the Chinese Mainland and international markets. Additionally, advancements like the Click & Ship booking platform and enhanced tracking features for express shipments have set new industry standards. The airline is also leading the charge in digital transformation, having been the first carrier to implement IATA’s ONE Record data protocol ahead of schedule.
Sustainability at the Core of Cathay Pacific
In an era where sustainability is a top priority, Cathay Pacific’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact have not gone unnoticed. Being named Eco-Airline of the Year reflects the airline’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. One of the key initiatives driving this vision is Cathay’s Corporate Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Programme, which enables corporate partners to contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions.Cathay has also been proactive in addressing single-use plastics, reducing its use from 7.7 pieces per passenger in 2019 to 2.6 pieces in 2024, with a goal of reaching just 1.5 pieces per passenger by the end of 2025. Additionally, all bottled water uplifted from Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific flights is now packaged in 100% recycled plastic (rPET) bottles.
