According to VnEconomy, Laguna Golf Lăng Cô is known as the first design of Nick Faldo, a British, in Vietnam. Among the three golf courses having achieved this significant sustainability certification, this is the second time since 2019, the 18-hole golf course at Laguna Lăng Cô Complex has met the Gold standards by EarthCheck - a scientific and environmental benchmarking, certification and advisory group for the travel and tourism industry, including commitments to emissions, energy, water, waste and social impacts.
Since participating in EarthCheck in 2013 to ensure that the system has operated according to social and environmental protection standards, towards the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations, Laguna Lăng Cô has been improved results with Bronze Certification in 2015 and Silver Certification three years consecutive, from 2016 to 2018.
With initiatives including eliminating single-use plastic, sustainable design with interwoven rice fields, Laguna Lăng Cô golf course is one of pioneers in the movement for a greener, more sustainable Vietnamese golf industry.
Mr. Adam Calver, Golf and Destination Marketing Manager at Laguna Lăng Cô said Vietnam is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and they are fortunate to have one of the best locations for project development.
Laguna Golf Lăng Cô has completely eliminated the use of single-use plastic in most activities such as waste bags, locker room accessories, plastic cups and straws and replaced them with items made from materials such as bamboo, paper, steel or natural grass. At the same time, Laguna Lăng Cô has completed the installation of its own bottled water factory, helping the resort completely eliminate plastic water bottles and use reusable glass bottles.
Other important initiatives to promote Laguna Lăng Cô to achieve EarthCheck Gold certification include: the program to green the local barren land with new varieties of trees, creating more income for the community around the region; waste collection activities, supporting underprivileged young people through the resort's "Seedlings Mentorship" program and organizing seminars on sustainable development for the local community.
