Hakone, known as a famous hot spring town near Tokyo and called as TOKYO-III in the story, is where much of the story takes place in the film.
In commemoration of the release, a ropeway station is being decorated with an Evangelion-theme, and buses that are inspired by the series is currently hitting the roads in Hakone.
At Toei Kyoto Studio Park, a giant 15-meter-tall EVA-01 is on display and is a popular photo-spot for visitors.
