More than a whopping 1,000 artisans and artists will gather at a festival scheduled from November 2-4 in Vinh Yen City, northern Vinh Phuc Province, aiming to honour the traditional cultural values of ethnic minority groups in the north-eastern region.
The information was released at a press conference in Ha Noi on October 26 to introduce the 10th Culture, Sports, and Tourism Festival for ethnic minority groups in the north-eastern region in Vinh Phuc Province in 2018 under theme “Preserving and Promoting Northeast Ethnic Culture in the Reform Process: Integration and Sustainable Development".
Director of Vinh Phuc provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Ngoc Oanh said the festival aims to share experience and raise artists’ awareness about the promotion of traditional cultural values of ethnic groups in the north-eastern region and help to reinforce the great national unity bloc.
Diverse activities will be launched during the event, including art performances, a fashion show of traditional costumes and a photo exhibition, tourism and food fairs, and local folk games.
At the opening ceremony slated for November 2, a representative from the UNESCO office in Viet Nam will present a certificate to recognize tugging ritual and games as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity to Vinh Phuc authorities.
