HEAR THE NEXT GENERATION OF OPERA STARS WHEN ELEVEN YOUNG SINGERS COMPETE IN THE IFAC HANDA AUSTRALIAN SINGING COMPETITION

SEMI FINALS CONCERT SATURDAY 11 AUGUST 2018

Following heats in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, Music & Opera Singers Trust presents Australasia’s most prestigious classical singing competition the 2018 IFAC HANDA AUSTRALIAN SINGING COMPETITION.

National Adjudicator, Prof. Linnhe Robertson, with assistance from local Adjudicators, has selected eleven impressive young singers who will compete in the Semi Finals Concert on Saturday 11 August at Eugene Goossens Hall, ABC Studios, Ultimo.

Congratulations go to Georgia Melville (Soprano) Josi Ann Ellem (Soprano), Tristan Entwistle (Baritone) all from NSW; Cleo Lee-McGowan (Soprano), Shakira Tsindos (Mezzo Soprano), Zoe Drummond (Soprano) from VIC; Katherine McIndoe (Soprano), Sophie Sparrow (Soprano), Pasquale Orchard (Soprano) from NZ; Xenia Puskarz Thomas (Mezzo Soprano) from QLD and Nicole Mealey (Mezzo) from WA.

The Semi-Finals Concert gives you a unique chance to hear the next generation of opera stars perform some of the most loved and memorable work in the classical singing canon. From charming lieder to lyrical arias, each performer sings two pieces as they compete to win a place in the Finals Concert. The Finals Concert will be held on Saturday 8 September at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

The Australian Singing Competition is open to singers under the age of 26, and offers a number of career-building awards making it Australasia’s premier competition and the richest of its kind for our finest young opera and classical singers with nearly $200,000 in prizes.
