Nearly 120,000 visitors to Hue city over Tet holidays

The ancient imperial city of Hue in the central province of Thua Thien - Hue welcomed nearly 120,000 visitors, including 48,000 foreign arrivals, during the week-long lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre organised a ceremony at The Mieu- Dai Noi (Hue imperial citadel) on February 22 to take down the Neu pole and re-enact the royal seal opening on the first days of the lunar New Year.

This year, apart from offering free entry tickets to Hue city, the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre also hosted diverse activities to recreate a traditional Tet in the royal palace to serve visitors.

In addition to traditional tours, travel companies in Hue have organised a wide variety of tours to guide visitors around ThanhToan Bridge, Thanh Tien paper flower village, and the city’s ancient pagodas.

According to traditional customs, the ceremony to take down the Neu pole signals the end of the Tet celebration.

Phan Thanh Hai, Hue Monuments Conservation Centre Director said the centre also held the royal seal opening event to encourage people to begin the New Year full with a determination to fulfill all tasks during the year.
