MOST AWARDED COUNTRY MUSIC ARTIST OF THE YEAR ANNOUNCED AS 2017 MUSTER AMBASSADOR

Travis Collins
The Gympie Music Muster, the country’s favourite quintessentially Australian music festival, will tomorrow announce multi-award winning singer songwriter TRAVIS COLLINS as their 2017 ‘Muster Ambassador’.

Travis’ appointment is a significant coup for the Muster, after he took out three 2017 Golden Guitar Awards, the CMC Australian Artist and Australian Video of the Year awards, making him the most awarded country music artist of the year.

The Gympie Music Muster is one of Australia’s largest charity festivals, and this year boasts a 100% home-grown Aussie line-up. The Muster will feature hundreds of performances across five stages, covering a huge range of genres including country, bluegrass, folk, blues and rockabilly.  Travis joins multi-platinum selling star JESSICA MAUBOY to headline his favourite festival.

"I’ve seen all sides of The Muster, from many years camping with family, to performing on main stage, having a rum with mates in the legendary Crow Bar, or grabbing a new pair of boots at one of the many onsite shops,” said Travis Collins. “I still don’t know what element I love most about The Muster… It’s just that kind of magic place and iconic event that offers an experience like no other. From the full electric buzz of mind-blowing Aussie entertainment each day and night, to the silent calm and eerie stillness of morning and native bird calls waking the campers, setting up camp beside strangers on day one but leaving as lifelong mates come day five… catching up with them the following year… and the year after that."

Travis continued, "It’s watching the dreamers and up and comers strut their stuff to huge crowds for the very first time (as I did in 2004), right there on the same bill as the most known and established acts in our country, knowing that it’s all in the name of charity. It’s hard to define The Muster, but one thing’s for sure, there’s nothing else like it.”

Muster Program Director Jeff Chandler said Travis is one of the brightest young stars in country music right now, having taken out six major awards so far this year.

“Apart from being a dynamic performer, he has also been a great supporter of The Muster over the years,” said Chandler. “He is the perfect choice for this year’s ambassador and we could not be more excited that he has accepted the role.”

This year’s incredible Muster line-up runs over four action packed days, from Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 August, 2017, and features performances by:
  • Jessica Mauboy
  • Adam Brand - Busby Marou - Graeme Connors
  • Amber Lawrence - Travis Collins - Sunny Cowgirls
  • Catherine Britt - Fanny Lumsden - Troy Kemp
  • Caitlyn Shadbolt - Dean Ray - Adam Eckersley Band
  • Reece Mastin - Davidson Brothers - Kirsty Lee Akers - Hillbilly Goats - Bondi Cigars
  • Anne Kirkpatrick - Bushwackers - Mason Rack
  • Chad Morgan - Missy Lancaster - Travellin’ Still
  • The Songs of Slim Dusty With Pete Denahy & the Travelling Country Band
  • …plus many more still to be announced.

Gympie Music Muster Program Director Jeff Chandler said the 2017 Muster program will feature hundreds of performances across five stages, covering a range of genres including country, bluegrass, folk, blues and rockabilly.

Held in the Amamoor Creek State Forest in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland, two hours north of Brisbane and 40 minutes from Noosa, The Muster is the perfect way to kick back and enjoy some of the country’s best talent.

Run by the community, for the community, The Muster is a not-for-profit charity event which has raised in excess of $15 Million for charities Australia wide since its inception. It also gives a multi-million dollar boost to Queensland’s tourism sector every year, providing an economic boom for the region.

The Gympie Music Muster runs from Thursday August 24 to Sunday August 27, 2017 in the Amamoor Creek State Forest near Gympie.
