Nice day for a Whitsundays Wedding

The festive season (including New Year's Eve) scores highly on the global romance Richter scale when it comes to marriage proposals. If the 'Yes' part is easy, but you're torn on wedding style, the Whitsundays has more surprises than its 74 island idylls, even catering to authentic Outback meets Reef nuptials. 

Starting this month, John Henderson, who with his wife, Jacqui, launched Whitsunday Paradise Explorer (in July 2016), providing intimate day trips around the islands, is teaming up with a truly hidden gem – Earlando, a working cattle station that boasts 6,000 acres of Whitsunday coastline. 

Simply wanting to 'share the love', the family behind this private property – arguably the best kept secret on the Whitsundays, complete with secluded beaches, mountain ranges and cattle yards – has recently opened the property to weddings, elopements, proposals and special events (strictly limited to one event on any one day). 

Equally 'a big softy' at heart, John Henderson will be providing personalised boat services to Earlando, working with the property to offer specialised wedding and 'proposal packages' (the latter complete with luxury picnic hamper and bubbles).

Not-for-profit organisation, Weddings Whitsundays, via its survey of celebrants involved in approximately 1,000 weddings each year, estimates wedding tourism annually draws at least 50,000 visitors (including wedding guests) to the Whitsundays, with an estimated economic value of $75 million. The swoon-factor destination was also recently ranked the second most instagrammable holiday destination on the planet.
