Minister for Natural Resources Lands and Water Kevin Humphries said the current draft plan reflects community feedback already received, ensuring there will be more open space, improved aesthetics and increased amenities for the park beach and pavilion in the coming decade.
“The improvements that will be made to the area as part of the Plan of Management will further enhance Bondi’s reputation as one of Australia’s, and the world’s, most iconic landmarks,” Mr Humphries said.
Waverley Mayor Sally Betts announced about $20 million has been allocated in Council’s Long Term Financial Plan for the Bondi Park, Beach and Pavilion 10 year Plan of Management, with about $10 million set aside in the plan to refurbish the Bondi Pavilion.
Member for Vaucluse Gabrielle Upton said that the range of projects planned as part of the Plan of Management include a children’s playground, a beginners’ skate park and extra toilets. This will add to the amenity created by the proposed upgrade to the gym, which is supported by the NSW Government, Waverley Council and Bondi Junction Rotary.
“The changes that will occur under the Plan of Management are designed to enhance what people already love about Bondi and will ultimately result in more people visiting the area every year,” Ms Upton said.
