Love Without Boundaries: Trang’s Iconic Underwater Wedding Embraces Equality

Amazing Thailand Love Wins Festival @ Underwater Wedding Ceremony
In a celebration of love, inclusivity, and Thailand’s natural beauty, the Amazing Thailand Love Wins Festival @ Underwater Wedding Ceremony unfolded at Hat Chao Mai National Park on February 13-14. Organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in collaboration with Trang Province, the event welcomed couples of all genders and nationalities, offering them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to exchange vows beneath the Andaman Sea.

This year’s ceremony carried special significance, marking the first underwater wedding since Thailand’s historic enactment of marriage equality on January 23, 2025. TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool highlighted the event’s importance in reinforcing Thailand’s reputation as a leader in diversity and inclusivity. “This milestone reflects our nation’s progress in recognising love in all its forms, and we are honoured to celebrate it with couples from around the world. Trang, with its rich culture, natural beauty, and warm hospitality, is the perfect setting for this extraordinary celebration,” she said.

A Celebration of Love and Tradition

Trang’s Amazing Thailand Love Wins Festival transformed the province into a hub of romance and festivity. The Love Wins Carnival set the tone, featuring a vibrant parade from Dugong Circle to Trang Clock Tower. Spectators witnessed six themed processions, including The World-Class Procession of Khan Mak, which showcased Thailand’s rich wedding traditions, and The Miracle Love of Under the Sea, paying tribute to the region’s stunning marine ecosystem. Other themes, such as Save the World with Love and Treasures of Trang, emphasized sustainability and local heritage, while Love Wins and Love is Giving celebrated unity and generosity.

The carnival brought together artists, influencers, and LGBTQ+ representatives alongside government and private sector participants. Celebrity couples, including Saipan-Khunawut and Porch-Arm, made special appearances, while extravagant drag performances added to the energy of the event.

An Unforgettable Underwater Ceremony

The festival’s most anticipated moment took place at Hat Chao Mai National Park, where couples donned scuba gear to partake in the Wedding Moment on the Beach: Under the Sea ceremony. Against the breathtaking backdrop of Ko Kradan and Sunset Beach, participants exchanged vows in the world-renowned underwater marriage registration. The event also featured the Rod Sai Sang sand pouring ceremony, symbolizing unity and prosperity in marriage.

Following the underwater nuptials, newlyweds and guests gathered for the Dinner Love Wins Party, a romantic beachfront evening filled with live music, cultural performances, and a shared celebration of love’s universal power.

A Legacy of Love and Inclusivity

Since its inception in 1996, Trang’s Underwater Wedding Ceremony has gained international acclaim, even earning a Guinness World Record for hosting the largest underwater wedding. This year’s event reaffirmed its legacy, attracting couples from across the globe and celebrating Thailand’s progressive stance on marriage equality.

With its stunning landscapes, rich traditions, and welcoming atmosphere, Trang continues to solidify its status as a dream destination for weddings and honeymoons. The Amazing Thailand Love Wins Festival not only honored love in all its forms but also showcased Thailand as a nation that embraces diversity, making it a must-visit destination for couples seeking an extraordinary way to say “I do.”
